HIGH SPEED HANDPIECE MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES

AFTER EACH PATIENT
  1. Remove handpiece from unit tubing, clean with alcohol (Do Not use harsh cleaning agents, Do Not place in ultra sonic unit).
  2. With bur inserted, place lubricant (2 or 3 drops) into air drive port, - at the same time, rotate the bur between your fingers forward/backward 1/4 turns for a few seconds.

  3. Re-connect handpiece to unit tubing, place an autoclave bag over the handpiece & run 30 seconds to eliminate excess oil from the turbine. (This procedure is primarily to clean the handpiece not lubricate it).
  4. Remove from unit tubing, and autoclave.
  5. After autoclaving, allow to cool gradually, about 30 minutes, to room temperature.
  6. With bur in handpiece place lubricant (2 or 3 drops) into air drive port, - at the same time, rotate the bur between your fingers forward/backward 1/4 turns for a few seconds.
  7. Connect handpiece to unit tubing & run for 30 seconds to eliminate excess oil from the turbine (this procedure is to lubricate the handpiece).

NOTE: A liquid lubricant (oil) seems to work best.
